My life has provided a gamut of experiences.
A hodgepodge of difficult lessons, balanced by periods of celebration, and sincere happiness.
Experience allows us to know gratitude.
I have experienced periods of homelessness, contrasted with the privilege of residing in million dollar homes.
My professional experiences are diverse, spanning more than four decades, traversing the beauty industry to public service. I have worked as fitness coach, trainer, instructor, owner/operator of a beauty salon, and travelled as an aesthetic sales representative. Following this I transition to construction where I worked along side my ex-husband supporting our asphalt paving business. I have worked waitressing, drove a 5 ton delivery truck, and served in public sector for more than two decades; within a union, and as excluded management staff.
There have been periods when I battled alcohol addiction, fortunately, I am at a place where I enjoy social, moderate consumption. Like many from my generation I dabbled with drugs in my teens and early twenties, I was blessed, in that they had no lasting appeal. I am a smoker who is always quitting and will one day succeed.
In contrast, I believe there is a direct correlation between our physical and mental health; therefore, I remain committed to a daily regimen of physical activities, supported by proper nutrition.
My default go to for physical activity is the gym, I enjoy yoga, however I am not a yogi. Kudos to you if you are, I admire those who have mastered the art of yoga.
I began running with two dear friends in 2000 and went on to successfully complete 24 runs which consist of 10 km, half marathons and one full marathon.
I took up snow skiing in my mid-thirties to build in out doors activities during the winter months. I continue to make an effort to capitalize on the opportunity to hit the slops.
I am a casual golfer, who enjoys the outdoor scenery as much as the play. Though I have played for years it remains casual, I have not mastered the golf lingo, so please no questions about how many over or under par, or what my handicap is, I have no idea.
I enjoy walking, hiking, horseback riding, cycling and most recently aspire to hone my skills at paddle boarding and archery.
I am the youngest of five children, I have three wonderful sisters and one super brother. I have been married twice, buried both my natural parents, one husband, and my mother in-law. I have grieved the loss of a dear friend to suicide, celebrated the achievement of others and developed compassion for all. You never know what battles others have had to endure until you invest the time to listen to their story.
I am blessed with one amazing daughter who is hard of hearing, raising her taught me grace. It continues to amaze me how much harder she has to work to navigate through life. Whether in social settings, work, or casual daily interactions, she works harder than most of us every minute of her day to hear, and process all that is happening.
My mother developed rheumatoid arthritis early in her life, consequently, by the time I was twelve, Mom was physically disabled, confined to a wheelchair. Businesses, housing and individuals in general were not educated about or equipped to service the handicapped during the 1960’s, 70’s or even 80’s. I think it is fair to say everyone in the family was impacted on some level through this experience.
I have been subjected to mental and physical abuse, recovered, forgiven, and moved forward.
I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Canada, the US, Mexico, as well as, the Caribbean, Europe and the United Kingdom. Travel is a passion, it seems the more countries I visit and cultures I experience, the more I long to see. I believe a great deal of learning happens through travel.
Drawing on my accumulation of experiences, complimented by my belief in people, I will work with you to achieve the goals you set for yourself.
I believe, essential life skills are, compassion, resilience, perseverance, and a clear set of values and beliefs. There is nothing we are not capable of. The foundation of my coaching and mentorship is based on integrity, I will work with you in a manner that best serves your needs.
I have studied leadership, more specifically, ethical, authentic leadership for more than two decades. My studies validate my conviction of what Leadership actually is, what it is not, and the value of being true to yourself. There is little doubt we should do what we love, believe in something, and stand for something!
I am committed to life long learning, I fully embrace every opportunity to expand my knowledge, through both formal and informal training and education.
My life has guided me to this place in time where I am excited to offer my expertise to you. Together we will craft a workable plan, inspired by your passions. Launching you in the direction that is right for you. Allowing you to derive greater, meaning, fulfilment, and peace in your life.
